Two weeks. I leave in two weeks for one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I fly out of the US in two weeks. In two weeks I say goodbye to all of my family and friends. And in the next two weeks I want to do nothing but love. I know I have mentioned this before but the past few weeks in Athens have truly been amazing. Not only have I spent more quality time with my roommates and made new, awesome friends but I have also been learning a lot. God has blessed me and has showered His love over me in amazing ways in the past two weeks.
With all my extra time I have been reading the book The Shack by William P. Young. Even though it has taken me this whole month to read it, it is an amazing book. I consider it to be a refreshing perspective. Anyways, the book is about God's love and shows where the Trinity is in our lives. Last night I was reading a part of the book when Jesus is talking to the main character Mackenzie. Jesus is explaining to him what he should be doing on earth. It isn't about institutions or religion- its all about love.
"Remember, the people who know [Jesus] are the ones who are free to live and love without any agenda." (pg 181)
It just reminded me that my tendency to worry about my next step affects how I love those around me. I get so caught up in planning and analyzing that I don't think to love. As much as I want to love all that I come in contact with, be it in Athens or Verona, it isn't always my initial reaction. But I'm here to love. That is what we are called to do. So, in my last two weeks here in the US I will love. I will pray for a loving, caring heart. And, for the next ten weeks I will pray for the ability to love without reason, to love like I am loved.
So in the words of my favorite band Coldplay...
"I wanna live life and always be true,
And I wanna live life and be good to you
And I wanna fly and never come down
And live my life and have friends around."
Love to all,
Rebecca Rose
