Parla inglese?

Well, I made it to Italy safe and sound! I was very lucky because my flight to London had only about 60 people on the plane, so we each had our own row. Unfortuantely, that didn't help with my sleeping situation. Over the 8 hour flight, I probably slept around 3-4 hours. It was a pretty smooth ride, although through the night it got pretty bumpy but overall it was a nice ride. I arrived in London at 7:30am their time (2:30 in America). It was great because two people from the study abroad trip were on my flight so we hung out in Gatwick Airport for the 3 hour layer and got to know each other. The flight to Verona was fine as well- the lack of sleep hit me though and I was asleep before we left the ground. When we arrived in Verona, we went through customs extremely fast- they didn't ask any questions- and our luggage arrived quickly and there were plenty of taxis waiting to take us away. I was lucky to have other people with me because the fare wasn't too much. So we arrived in Verona at about 2:30 Italian time, 8:30 American time- so we're 6 hours ahead of you. :)

The apartment that we're staying in is really nice. The layout is really simple and the kitchen is pretty spacious. Our beds are singles but thats fine with me. And there is plenty of space for all my stuff and clothes. The location in the city is really nice as well. Last night we had a group dinner downtown. A few of us came back to the apt afterwards to sleep off the jet-lag and we got a bit turned around. We got back safely though and I was comforted to get the mini-tour of Verona today from Martin. Martin is our go-to guy for the UGA program. He's done the program for about 13 years and knows plenty about Verona and Italy in general. I'm really glad we have someone like that here, just in case anything happens. Today he showed us more of the bus stops and the ATMS. Also we went to the grocery stores and got some good food. Tonight six girls had a little dinner party tonight and it was delicious with great conversation. We've already started planning weekend trips for the upcoming weeks too, which is fun. Classes start Monday so its nice that we can chill and get acquainted with each other and with Verona.

Verona is really nice and very historic. One of the oldest, long standing arenas is here which was cool. Soon I'll see Juliet's balcony and other things that bring fame to Verona. When we got out of the airport we saw the huge Italian Alps that are practically in our backyard. No one had any idea that we were that close to them. They really are gorgeou and covered in snow! The town is very pretty as well, so many balconies and cute little streets. Of course I love the cute little cars as well. I've been taking pictures and hope to post those soon as well. Tomorrow is Verona's famous Carnival which should make my next post full of good stories and pictures! I hate not knowing Italian, I feel really disrespectful but I hope to catch on to the popular and useful sayings soon.

So for those who didn't know, my dad helped me and we got a mini-laptop for my trip. It has been very convenient and has a web-cam which makes skype so nice. I hope you skype me soon- r.r.rector! If you don't have skype- I still have aim- ugababi24.

I hope all is well in America. To be completely honest, I was homesick when I got here. But after almost a full nights sleep and new-made friends today, I feel much better. If you're the praying type, pray that I'll continue to make new relationships, will enjoy every moment here and not get caught up in things in America, and that I'll allow myself to have fun without over-worrying. Oh, and for those who prayed for my safe travel- thanks! They were definitely answered!

I'm glad that you're interested in my life abroad! I hope to keep you as updated as possible!

Con tutto il mio amore per la mia famiglia ei miei amici,

Rebecca
